Banana Split
Canon 300D , EF 50/1.4 USM , f/8.0 , 1s , ISO 200 , RAW
An entry for DPChallenge speed challenge, on the theme banana. This was the only idea that came to mind on short notice. A little silly, but effective.

I could not believe no one had commented on this photo and felt that it deserved one. This is an amazing shot! How DID you do it? It does not appear as if the banana skin has been cut at all to lodge the cleaver in it. The reflection in the cleaver certainly does show a “banana split” in a way no one else ever dreamed of. Well done! :)

Thanks for your comment, Rene. The banana in my photo is in fact sliced with a sharp knife and the cleaver is balanced inside. It was a little tricky to get it balanced right, so it looked like a clean split. The lighting is pretty harsh on that, didn’t have time to bring in my studio lights to make it cleaner. I would’ve liked a more ominous feel, instead of something quite so “matter-of-fact”, but it was a fun shot to take.
