For this week’s ThemeThursday entry : twisted. Here’s my protest again the low-carb craze, which I think it pretty twisted.

The hope was to have a whole bed of white rotini, and a double-helix pattern of colored pasta, but I discovered that obtaining that much resolution from elements the size of a piece of pasta would’ve taken a lot more rotini than I had in the house, so here we have it.

An entry for this week’s PhotoFriday challenge : Natural. Other than some level adjustments, this shot naturally came out of the camera. A beautiful day in our local state park.

Hideaway

hideaway.jpg

Canon 300D , EF 17-40/4.0L USM @ 17mm , f/18.0 , 1/15s and 1/250s, ISO 200

A glowing vestige of what once must have been a little hideaway, this derelict building was bathed in sunlight.

This shot took two exposures, one for the building and one for the sky. Unfortunately, I was without a tripod, so it’s not the cleanest combination. A little saturation, and selective exposure of a variety of regions, gives the picture a feeling of fantasy.

Canon 300D , EF 70-200/2.8L IS USM @ 200mm , f/9.0 , 1/50s , ISO 200

This photo is my first submission to a DPChallenge weekly contest. This week’s theme is rusted.

I love the way the green grass lifts this picture and gives contrast to the rust. I also like the detail in the multiple rusty sections, from the dragonfly to the more organic-looking rust in the can on the right.
