Three glasses, three partially eaten oreos. I stuck a small straw into the base of each oreo, and then into modeling clay at the bottom of a glass. Then I filled the glasses with milk nearly to the brim, entirely covering the straws.

This setup didn’t last very long, as the oreos quickly got so soggy, they fell off the straws. A number of cookies were harmed in the shooting of this photo.

An entry for the Black & White II challenge on DPChallenge. This photo is of a dried rose bouquet, my beautiful bride’s wedding bouquet, in fact. Lighting from a few sources. The B&W look was created by adding a curves layer, a desaturation layer, and a brightness/contrast layer, all in normal blending mode. The curves layer had each channel tweaked significantly to get the final result.

Lemon Seeds, a quick and dirty macro shot for the Macros without Bugs or Flowers challenge on DPChallenge. A little curves adjustment and a tad of saturation brings out the seeds, and the warm color of the lemon.

I suspended a page of sheet music over a DVD (they have better reflectivity than CDs), used three work lights to create the laser effect. I couldn’t decide whether to print out the sheet music reversed, so it would show up correctly in the CD, or leave it mroe abstract like this. Ultimately, laziness made my decision, and I stuck with this shot.

An entry for the DPChallenge contest theme of communication. Taken against a black background, some curves adjustments, USM, and some NeatImage finished it off.

These three photos were all taken with very cooperative bees who were going about their business without paying much attention to the macro lens I was pointing at them. I didn’t go out hunting bees that day, they just seemed to find me.

Tried here to recreate a classic stopped motion photo. Had the flash fire rapidly in succession to catch the drop, since I didn’t have a good trigger mechanism. (oh, and it’s actually milk, not cream, but cream sounds better…don’t tell anyone!)
